New York attorneys successfully obtained $85 million for their client, a former New York Times columnist and author, who was struck by a double decker bus while walking across the street.
He crossed on the cross walk when the light was in his favor, while the double decker made a left turn and slammed into him.
After the crash, Mr. Sipher, the victim, suffered serious injuries, spent 78 days in the hospital and had 9 operations. He must use a brace for walking, must take steroids for the rest of his life, and he continues to suffer chronic neurological pain.
The case was heard in the New York Supreme Court. After the five week case, the jury took just one day to decide to give Mr. Sipher $45 million for past pain and suffering and $40 million for future pain and suffering.
If you’ve suffered a personal injury that was the fault of another party, you may have a case for compensation. A personal injury attorney can litigate and negotiate to get you monetary compensation not only for medical expenses incurred as a result of the injury, but for past and future pain you may have for the rest of your life, too.
